Buhari’s Successor Will Face Numerous Challenges – Sanusi

REVEALED: CBN Owing Over N30 Trillion
Lamido Sanusi said the Central Bank of Nigeria is owing over N30 trillion

The 14th Emir of Kano and former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Muhammad Sanusi II, has stated that whoever succeeds President Muhammadu Buhari will face the same problems that the country faced in 2015.

Former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor Sanusi stated that the country was in a “deep hole” at the end of former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration in 2015, but that it would have been in a “deeper hole” by 2023.

Sanusi stated this in Abeokuta, Ogun State’s capital, on Monday, when he paid a courtesy visit to Chief Tayo Sowunmi, Babanla Adinni of Egbaland, and Baba Adinni of Ijemo, Abeokuta, as part of events planned for Sowunmi’s 80th birthday celebration.

He wondered if those vying to succeed Buhari were aware of the magnitude of the challenges confronting the country, as well as the resources to address them.

As a result, Sanusi requested prayers from all Nigerians and emphasized the importance of citizens voting for politicians who have the capacity, competence, and trustworthiness.

“I think we should also remind ourselves as Muslims and as citizens that we owe it to ourselves to elect those who can have our trust,” Sanusi, the Grand Khalifah of the Tijjaniyyah Movement in Africa, said.

If you choose someone who is imperfect to lead you, someone who is weak to lead you, or someone who is incompetent to lead you, you can only blame yourselves because Allah says that you should only trust those who can be trusted.”

“Now, if we vote for people who are incompetent for financial or personal reasons, that is our problem.”

We were in a deep hole in 2015; by 2023, we will be in an even deeper hole than we were in 2015.

I hope all of those vying for the presidency understand that the problems they will face are multiplied by the problems we faced in 2015.

It should be a source of concern for all of us. “If we don’t do the right thing, we’ll all pay for it,” Sanusi said.

When asked if he would consider joining politics and running for any political office in the country ahead of the 2023 general elections, Sanusi stated that he had no interest in politics and would instead continue to put political office holders on the defensive by speaking truth to their conscience.

“The solution is not for all of us to get involved in politics,” he said.

This country requires truthful politicians, Imams and Bishops who will stand up and remind them (political office holders) of the fear of God, technocrats who will critique their policies, and traditional rulers who will speak as the people’s conscience.

Everyone has a role to play, and we should all try to play it to the best of our abilities.”

This is not to say that I am retiring from service; I am always serving, and leadership is all about service.

That leadership is doing everything in my power to speak to the consciences of those in power and ask them to correct their actions.

It is up to them how they respond to that. ” I will remind those in positions of authority that the office they are currently occupying was previously occupied by someone else.

And then they’ll leave, and someone else will take their place. The only thing they have is the opportunity that Allah has given them, as well as the authority that Allah has bestowed upon them, to draw closer to him by serving the people.”

“People don’t understand the roles we play as religious leaders, as traditional rulers; they think you should go be a governor or a president,” he said.

To be honest, being the leader of Tijjaniyyah in Nigeria is an office that, if given the choice between that office and the presidency, I would take.

However, as a Muslim, I always end up saying, “I can only speak about what I want, what I see and think, but in the end, we all have to submit to Allah.”

The most important thing is to continue to pray for whoever emerges as Governors, senators, members of the House, chairmen, and leaders at all levels are trusted as president.”

Sowunmi expressed appreciation for Sanusi’s visit to his residence after he was received by the Egba Muslim Council, led by the Chief Imam of Egbaland, Fadhilat Sheikh Imam Sa’adallah Bamgbola, and top members of the prestigious Abeokuta Sports Club, among other eminent sons and daughters of Egbaland.
