Gateman Kills Former Boss, Steals $10,000 in Rivers

A former gateman, John Danjuma has reportedly killed his boss, Boma Amabomu Jumbo, an ex-University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) Director of Administration in Rivers State.

The Rivers State police command on Thursday, May 10, confirmed Danjuma’s arrest.

Danjuma, a man from Nasarawa, admitted to breaking into the home of his former employer.

He confessed to the Rivers State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID) that he proceeded to take her machete and brutally murder her in the early hours of Tuesday.

The suspect had been previously detained and was facing trial for suspicion of stealing a sum of ten thousand dollars ($10,000) from the victim. Despite this, he was granted bail and released from custody.

However, he targeted and killed his former boss the very next day and stole her pieces of jewelry. The judgement for his trial has been fixed for two days after the murder.

Danjume said:

The truth is about it is that we have an issue in the court and judgement is coming next tomorrow. They are prosecuting me about missing $10,000. And I don’t know about that money. I didn’t steal the money. She is dead now. I took her jewelries after killing her.”

An in-law to the deceased, Dolapo Tella Attoni disclosed that the suspect also killed the lady who recommended him for employment.

SP Grace Irinke-Koko, Police Public Relations Officer in Rivers Command also confirmed the incident on Wednesday night.

Irinke-Koko said:
Yes, the suspect has been arrested and detained in SCID.”
