On Sunday night, Nigeria achieved a remarkable feat in female wrestling at the ongoing 13th African Games, clinching six gold medals across different weight categories.

The impressive gold medal haul commenced with Blessing Oborodudu’s victory over Blandine Nyeh Ngiri of Cameroon, securing a convincing 14-4 win.

Following Oborodudu’s triumph, Odunayo Adekuroye continued Nigeria’s dominance by defeating Zineb Hassoune of Morocco with a pinfal.

Mercy Genesis, a standout in both the Commonwealth and African wrestling scenes, maintained Nigeria’s winning streak with a commanding 7-0 victory over her Egyptian opponent, Mohamed Nada.

Making her African Games debut, Ogunsanya Christiana delivered a dominant performance in the 53kg category, overpowering her Ivorian opponent Nogona Bakayoko with an impressive 11-0 win.

The celebrations continued as Hannah Reuben secured another gold medal in 13th African Games for Nigeria by defeating Amy Youin of Ivory Coast, adding to the jubilant atmosphere surrounding the Nigerian wrestling team.
