Renowned Nigerian record producer Osabuohien Osaretin, commonly referred to as Sarz, confidently asserts that he played a pioneering role in shaping the sound that has now become the gold standard for other Afrobeats producers.

In a candid video message posted on his Instagram page, Sarz credited singer Wizkid as the first individual to fully grasp his artistic vision and embrace his unique sound at an early stage.

Reflecting on their collaboration on the track ‘Samba,’ Sarz emphasized that prior to this collaboration, no one in the industry was crafting sounds quite like theirs.

He said, “I made a sound that became a benchmark for other Afrobeats producers to follow.

“I made a sound called ‘Samba.’ I remember no one was making anything like that at that time. I just wanted to do something that is African but at the same time the world in general understands. It was only Wizkid that saw the idea and knew exactly where I was coming from when I made Samba.”
