Tragic: ABSU Loses 3 Promising Medical Students in Auto Crash

An auto crash occurred on the Enugu-Umuahia Expressway at the Okigwe axis, resulting in the tragic loss of three Medicine and Surgery students from Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU).

Reports added that two other students sustained varying injuries during the incident.

The victims were returning to Aba after attending the school’s induction of medical students on Thursday, March 21, 2024.

It was said that the accident occurred when the driver of the vehicle the students were traveling in lost control, causing the vehicle to somersault.

Meanwhile, the Corps Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Abia State, Fredrick Ogiden has confirmed the incident.

Ogiden stated that his team arrived shortly after the accident and found that the vehicle involved was an ash-colored private Toyota Camry.

A viral video also captured men from the FRSC at the accident scene. One of the affected students, Favour Okpanku, a 500 Level Medical and Surgery student, has been identified.
